If all three pass, then surface rust, dulled knurl and cosmetic scuffs are just negotiating points, not reasons to walk away — they clean up or simply don’t matter. A tired-looking bar with straight steel, spinning sleeves and sound welds can be a genuine bargain that serves for decades, while a shiny bar with a subtle bend is the one to avoid.
Replace vs upgrade — be honest with yourself
