Pick one unit and stick to it
For a home gym, the winning move is to standardize on one unitand buy everything in it. Choose based on how you program: if you write your training and track your lifts in pounds, buy lb bars and lb plates; if you think in kilograms, go metric top to bottom. The unit itself doesn’t make you stronger — consistency does. A single-unit set means the number stamped on the plate is the number you log, with no conversion step to fumble and no uneven pairings. A quick conversion cheat and a worked example
