The four things that must line up

Upright tube size

The first filter is the outside dimension of the upright. Most home racks use one of two common tube sizes, 2" x 2" or 3" x 3", and an attachment that hangs over or slides onto the tube is cut for one of them. A 3-inch part is too big to seat on a 2-inch upright, and a 2-inch part will not fit over a 3-inch tube. Hole diameter

The second is the diameter of the holes drilled through the uprights, because that is what the attachment’s pin or bolt passes through. Two sizes are common: 5/8" and 1". A safety pin, hook or bolt built for 1-inch holes will not pass through 5/8-inch holes, and a 5/8-inch pin sitting in a 1-inch hole has slop it was never designed for. The hardware and the hole have to be the same size, full stop. This is easy to overlook because the holes look similar at a glance, yet it is one of the most common reasons a part that seemed right simply will not go on.

Hole spacing and pattern

The third is how far apart the holes sit. Standard racks use an even hole spacing up the whole upright, but many drill a tighter 1-inch “Westside” spacing through the bench and pressing zone so you can fine-tune bar height and safety position in smaller steps. Outside-face mount vs insert-in-tube

The fourth is how the attachment attaches at all. Some parts mount on the outside faceof the upright — they hook over the tube or bolt through the front holes and hang on the outside. Others insert into the tube, sliding down inside the hollow upright to sit flush. These are fundamentally different fits: an insert-style part needs the correct inside dimension, not just the outside one, and an outside-mount part needs enough clearance and the right hole placement on the face. A part built to insert will never hang on the outside, and vice versa, no matter how close the other numbers are.
